On the 14th and 15th of March 2009, Our Division had send 3 member, Lan. Crpl Quek Yi Lian, Lan. Crpl Ang Joan and Cher Thu Yuen to attend the Advance First Aid Course which is held in Sekolah Seri Bestari, Bandar Seri Damansara. From 8.30 am till 7.30pm for the first day and from 9am till 5pm on the second day.
We went to the place by Joan’s Volvo in the first day and Yi Lian’s Red Colour Mini Kancil for the second day…
The course started with a half an hour introduction by Dr. Athi.
Then he continue with his lecture for the topic with the title of Communication.
We learn the correct way in communicating using Walkie-talkie.
Besides, we also learn the short form to be used in communication example ETA(estimated time of arrival), ETD (estimated time of departure), and others.

After the theory section for the Communication, then the class is devided into 2 groups.
One will be the base and another will be SJA 1(the ambulans)…we practice how to speak clearly and the words to be use with walkie. Practical for communicating using walkie-talkie
Next we learn Advance resuscitation, CPR for Infant.
In advance first aid, we will be focusing on Infant.
During the course, we used a baby dummy as the casualty.
The baby is so cute^^
Then we also learned choking with the same baby^^
After those lecture, then we have a course by Dr. Rao on Triage (“to sort out” in French).
In this course, we learn how to categorized casualty into the level of priority during emergency by using colour.
Priority one will be RED – need urgent transport to hospital
Priority two will be Yellow – need surgery within few hour
Priority three will be Green – no life threatening injuries
Priority four will be White – obvious/probable death
Before the day ends, we have Tn. Subra teaching us the correct way on using the equipment in ambulance for example scoop stretcher, Spinal board, and some transportation method using blankets and stretcher.( sorry no picture of it as concentrating on the teaching^^)
In the following day, the first course is Sports injuries by Pn. Jothi M. Panandam. She is the principle staff officer for training. This course is about the types of injuries that normally seen in sports duty such as cramps, sprain and strains and the treatment used for each injury.
After that, is Dr. Mohammed Rafi Feizal’s lecture on Emergency Child Birth. He thought us how to help a mother to deliver a baby. And how to remove the umbilical cord after the delivery from the mother and baby. Just for your information, helping mother to deliver and removing the umbilical cord required lots of experience and skills because sometime baby might be stuck in the middle of delivery so Dr. Mohammed say we should all pray that these case will not happen around us^^
After emergency child birth, Dr. Mohammed teach us on Airway management. He thought us the way of using some equipment such as Pocket mask, Big valve mask and many other things that use to improve the airway of the casualty.
Next is Medical Emergency by Pn. Wong Hui Chin an Area Medical Officer(forget she is from what area already). She thought the correct management for various medical emergency such as Hyperglycemia, Hypoglycemia, heart attack and many others.
Lastly is the topic of Trauma By Ms. (DR) Theyveeka Reddy. She is a doctor in Selayang hospital and also one of the officer in St.john. She teach us how to perform primary survey and secondary survey on casualties.
