Advanced First Aid Assessment Test 2009

15th February 2009
Advanced First Aid Assessment Test
10am - 11am
SMK Kepong
Organised by Kawasan Selangor Tengah Utara (KSTU)
Attendees from Subang Jaya: L.Corp. Quek Yi Lian, L.Corp. Ang Joan, L.Corp. Foo Yun Jian (Seafield) and Pte. Cher Thu Yuen

We left Subang for Kepong at approximately 9am, and fearing that we will be late, our driver went on a speeding spree. We almost missed the bridge to Kepong after the LDP toll, but our driver, coming to her senses at the very last minute, swerved the small red car towards the bridge, narrowly missing the divider and scaring the passengers out of their wits. So guess who was driving? XD

Anyway, we reached SMK Kepong in one piece with no damage to the small and adorable car. In fact, we reached about 15 minutes early. There were students, presumably SJAM members, practising foot drill at the car park when we arrived. Our fellow Seri Kembangan partners have already arrived and seated at their places.

The duration of the test was one hour, and it was an objective test with multiple choice answers. The questions were all based on Basic First Aid. The aim of the test was to assess whether we are eligible to attend the Advanced First Aid Course which will be held in March. So were we eligible?

We shall see when the results are out.

We left the exam hall early and headed to watch KSTU's area competition going on in the school. Their foot drill procedures were rather different from ours, but the nursing cadet team that we observed managed to put on a brave and confident front despite making small mistakes.

Their short case was also rather impressive from what we observed, with the team leaders being able to command "fast and furious-ly" and the rest of the team members were also responding fast and with "semangat". Too bad we couldn't hear the doctors telling them what were the mistakes they made as were quite a distance from them.

We couldn't catch long case and home nursing as we had to leave. And yes, we all reached home in one piece as well.

No pictures this time, thousand apologies =DDD
